Rev. Jim Bass has been the Senior Pastor of Friendswood Methodist since his appointment in June 2006. Previous to coming to Friendswood, Jim has pastored churches in Alvin, East Texas, West Houston, and Beaumont. His greatest passion in ministry is to take the truths of God’s Word and show how they apply to daily life today. He graduated from Southwestern University with a degree in history and minor in Greek. He received his Masters of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology at SMU. Perhaps Jim’s greatest strength is his wife Debbie, to whom he has been married for the past thirty years. They have two grown sons, Jeremy and Jason, each pursing God’s calling into ministry. When not engaged in ministry, Jim enjoys kayak fishing, reading and relaxing at the beach, and spending time with Debbie in Galveston.

Rev. Howard Huhn serves as our Executive Pastor overseeing the staff and facilities of Friendswood Methodist. A native Houstonian, he has a B.A. from the University of Texas and an M.Div. from Asbury Seminary. Howard is married to Krystal and they have two children. Krystal is a local realtor with Stanfield Properties. They are both very active in the community, particularly with the Friendswood Band. Howard is a published author and maintains a personal blog at He has served in full time ministry since 1999 and is the 2006 recipient of the Copeland Award for Evangelism by the Texas Annual Conference.

Rev. Sam McRae serves as the Associate Pastor of Missions and Outreach at Friendswood Methodist Church. Pastor Sam is originally from San Diego, CA which explains why he loves wearing a fanny pack and thinks In-N-Out is better than Whataburger. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Biola University in La Mirada, CA with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management with a Minor in Biblical Studies in 2013. Pastor Sam graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY with a Masters of Divinity in 2017. He met his wife Katie in KY and they have 3 children (Ridley, Silas, and Zeke). Pastor Sam is passionate about missions, small business, conversations on theology, stewardship, adoption, and discipleship. Since joining Friendswood Methodist Church in 2019, Pastor Sam has loved learning how passionate the church is about community outreach, children’s ministry, and growing closer to our Lord.
