OUR CARE MINISTRY

GRIEF SHARE

GriefShare is a caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Click to learn more!

PASTORAL CARE

As trained lay members, the Pastoral Care Team supports and provides pastoral and congregational care to members, attenders, family, friends, and those in the church’s community area of ministry service. This ministry takes place in: hospitals; rehab facilities; nursing homes; other medical facilities, including short/long term care; and hospice care settings. The team also visits in homebound settings, recognizing that those being served may be under the care of home health providers. Pastoral Care Team members are also available to provide Communion to our homebound upon request.

SPECIAL SERVICES

At Friendswood Methodist, our focus when performing a funeral or memorial service is to use the resurrection of Jesus Christ as comfort and support while celebrating the life of the deceased. In the company of believers and through the uplifting strength of worship, family and friends can find the renewal of Christian faith, hope and love to sustain them in time of grief. COMMUNITY CARING

Community Caring is a ministry built on small actions. Volunteers offer prayers, support and encouragement to others in times of need. Caring individuals provide prayers and cards for sympathy, health and other situations. Please contact the church office (281-482-7535) if you would like someone from Community Caring to contact you in your time of need.

HEALING SERVICES

Are you suffering from or living with a physical, mental, or emotional condition? Do you want to be healed? If so, we are here to offer help and hope through prayer. Services of Prayer for Healing are held twice a year. What will you experience at this service? Soft music, scripture, a testimony of healing, Holy Communion, and prayers for healing and wholeness. Each person decides if they want to pray alone or with a prayer team, if they want to be anointed with oil or not. The Service of Prayer for Healing provides an opportunity for us to still our spirits before God, to rest and glory in His presence, and to be made whole. Come and experience the healing that can occur in such a Spirit-filled setting.

GATHERINGPLACE

Do you need a break from caregiving responsibilities? Family caregivers caring for loved ones with memory loss, specifically mild to moderate Alzheimer’s, other dementias or cognitive impairments may participate in this 3 hour program. At the Gathering Place, caregivers receive respite, a break from caregiving responsibilities, while their loved one participates in planned activities such as games, music, crafts, lunch and socialization.

Friendswood Methodist works in partnership with CarePartners to offer this monthly program. Members trained by CarePartners participate on a Care Team and provide companionship and fun for individuals living with memory loss. For more information, to arrange a visit or to register a loved one to participate in this program please call 713-682-5995 or visit www.CarePartnersTexas.org.

VISITATION MINISTRY

Friendswood Methodist has volunteers who visit area nursing homes and members who are no longer able to get out and fellowship with others. Please contact the church office (281-482-7535) if you feel your family member would like someone to visit and pray with them.
