Host Teams
Host Teams are an essential part of church life and make FMC feel like home to every person who walks through our doors. God uses Host Teams to set the stage to reach more people and change lives.
The Bereavement Committee prepares and hosts receptions following funerals and memorials held at the church. This team assists with organizing and providing comfort to grieving families, offering a compassionate space for them to gather and remember their loved ones.
Coffee Connection is a weekly time of fellowship, coffee, and light snacks on Sundays from 10:30 am to 11:00 am in the FLC gym. Support this ministry by assisting with setup and cleanup, helping create a welcoming space for connection and sharing information about church ministries and events.
Assist in serving communion and guiding the congregation during Communion Sundays, ensuring a meaningful and orderly experience for all.
This team handles a variety of tasks, including cleaning and staging areas for videoing, creating graphics, and organizing spaces around the campus. We welcome individuals with various skills—administration, Canva, organizing event supplies, or simply a keen eye for detail.
There is not a specific meeting time, just when you are able or as projects come up!
Join the team that helps maintain the church campus by assisting with small upkeep tasks. Your contributions keep our spaces in excellent condition, ensuring a welcoming and functional environment for all who visit.
Provide rides to church attendees on Sunday mornings who need assistance getting to and from the service, helping create a welcoming and accessible environment for all.
Join the team that helps welcome new members by hosting quarterly gatherings in a home setting. These gatherings provide an opportunity to greet newcomers, help them get plugged in, and build connections within the church community. Your warmth and hospitality help create lasting relationships.
Our Prayer Team provides prayer covering for services, prayer requests, ministries and prayer appointments.
The Pastoral Care Team provides ministry to our congregation in hospitals, rehab facilities, nursing homes, medical facilities, and hospice care. The team also visits homebound individuals. Your support brings comfort and prayer to those in need of spiritual care.
Training and travel are required for this position.
This team transforms church spaces for events and gatherings, creating distraction-free, welcoming environments where guests can fully experience God.
Our Photography Team captures special moments and events, contributing to the visual storytelling of our church community. Support this team by using your photography experience to help document and share the life of the church.
Ushers greet guests, distribute bulletins, assist with seating, collect the offering, and provide an attendance count. On the first Sunday of the month, they also guide rows for Holy Communion. Arriving 20 minutes before the service, ushers help create a positive, distraction-free worship experience.
The Welcome Team creates a positive first impression by greeting and encouraging guests as they arrive and depart. Stationed throughout the church campus, they assist members and visitors, answer questions, collect information cards, and connect guests with pastors and ministries.
Groups
We all need each other and that's why we have different Groups. Whether you're new to the church, interested in leading for the first time, or a seasoned leader, there's a place for you!
The Quilting Team creates beautiful quilts that are gifted to those baptized at Friendswood Methodist. Additionally, we have a Quilting group that meets on Friday Mornings.
Help assemble and mail gift cards to college students during the fall and spring semesters. Your support brings encouragement and care to students as they navigate their college journey.
Gathering Place is a program and lunch for caregivers and their loved ones, held on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Volunteers are needed to serve lunch, assist with setup and takedown, and spend time visiting with our guests. Your support helps create a warm and welcoming space for those who care for others.
Life Group facilitators are needed to support the growth of this program for adults of all ages. The goal of a Life Group is to help one another grow in love and knowledge of God, and in loving others. Your leadership fosters meaningful connections and spiritual growth.
Our Refresh Ministry offers retirees and empty nesters a space for fellowship and spiritual growth. Help is needed with setup, cleanup, and snacks at events, which take place on the 4th Wednesday of odd months.
Children's Ministry
We offer a range of opportunities to serve in our children’s programs, both at the church and through outreach missions. By joining the team, you'll help children build a strong biblical foundation, develop meaningful relationships with God and others, and foster a love for church. A background check and additional training are required for all roles.
Enthusiastic leaders are needed to guide and inspire 1st-5th graders as they grow in their faith through engaging activities and Bible lessons on Wednesdays during the school year. Learn more here.
Assist the Children's Ministry by coordinating details for children's events, and managing the calendar. Your organizational skills ensure everything runs smoothly, creating a seamless and impactful experience for children, parents, and guests in the Children's Ministry.
Support infants to preschool-age children in worship and small groups on Sunday mornings. Help create opportunities for them to hear the life-changing message of Jesus through Bible stories, worship, prayer, and hands-on activities.
Support K-5th grade students by creating a welcoming environment and assisting families with check-in, drop-off, and pick-up. There are also opportunites to lead large group sessions, worship, small groups, and games on Sunday mornings.
Your involvement makes Sundays meaningful and fun for kids and their families.
This is a one-on-one mentoring program at Wedgewood Elementary. A group of trained mentors meet with the same child, once a week, for one hour, for the school year. This mentoring not only positively impacts the child, but also the child’s parents and their teachers.
Kingdom Students Ministry
Kingdom Student Ministries invites you to support our middle and high school students in their Christian walk. Through a variety of roles, from event coordination to small group leadership, you can help create spaces where students connect with God, grow in their faith, and take their next steps. Join us in making a meaningful impact in the lives of our youth.
Assist the Kingdom Students team by coordinating details for 6-12 grade breakfasts, large group sessions, small groups, games, events, and calendaring. Your organizational skills help ensure everything runs smoothly, creating a well-planned and impactful experience for students in the Kingdom Student Ministry.
Support Kingdom Student Ministry on Sunday nights by helping with worship, meals, and small groups. Your involvement creates a dynamic environment where students in grades 6-12 can grow in faith, connect with others, and deepen their relationship with God.
Host homes are needed for various events throughout the year, including TACO nights during the school year and Summer Poolside Bible Studies. By opening your home, you create a welcoming space for fellowship, growth, and connection within our church community.
Missions & Outreach Teams

Assist with the collection, repair, and distribution of bikes for homeless individuals. Help is needed at all stages, and bike donations are accepted year-round to support this important mission.
Our Christmas JOY Party, held each December, is a special event where we provide Christmas for families in our community. You can serve by helping with planning and preparation leading up to the event, or by volunteering for setup, takedown, and assisting families during the party. Spanish-speaking volunteers are especially needed as translators to ensure everyone feels welcome and supported. Join us in making this Christmas memorable for those in need!
Our Food Pantry partners with the Galveston County Food Bank (GCFB) to provide food for those in need once a month. You can serve by packing bags on Sunday mornings or during the week—helping whenever you're available. Your support makes a big difference in providing nourishment to families in our community.
Meals on Wheels provides a hot meal that includes protein, starch, vegetables, bread, dessert, and a drink at an affordable price for those that are homebound or elderly within Friendswood city limits.
Help collect and sort school supplies in August for students in need. Your support ensures that local children have the supplies they need to start the school year strong.
Our Operation Christmas Child Ministry offers opportunities to serve throughout the year. You can help with planning, fundraising, crafting, and other preparations. In November, we serve as a Drop-Off Center, dedicating a week to collecting and transporting shoeboxes dropped off at our campus by community members. Additionally, you can assist with collecting, sorting, and packing shoeboxes during this time.
Weekend Warriors is a home improvement outreach providing repairs to those in need. Support is welcome, regardless of construction skills, as the team works on projects year-round in the counties around Friendswood. We aim to complete one service project each month. Worship Teams
These teams include musicians, singers, camera operators, lyric operators, lighting technicians, and audio technicians. Learn more here.
Our Contemporary Music Ministry features a dynamic blend of drums, guitar, bass, keyboards, vocalists, and pianists, all coming together to lead worship with passion and excellence. We also welcome additional instrumentalists to join in enhancing our worship experience.
Our Traditional Music Ministry is made up of Chancel Choir, Adult Handbells, Children's Choirs, Children's Handbells and Orchestra.
